SCULPTRA
FDA-Approved Collagen Biostimulator
Build collagen. Soften facial wrinkles. Reveal gradual, natural-looking results.
WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is an injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) treatment that stimulates your body’s own collagen production. It gradually improves facial wrinkles and supports the skin’s structure as new collagen develops.
FDA-APPROVED USES
Sculptra is FDA-approved to correct shallow to deep nasolabial folds, fine lines and wrinkles in the cheeks, and other facial wrinkles in people with normal immune function.
Approval applies to specific indications. Treatment of body areas is off-label and requires a separate discussion of risks, benefits, and alternatives.
BENEFITS
• Stimulates natural collagen production.
• Gradually softens facial wrinkles and folds.
• Helps improve skin firmness and quality.
• Provides a progressive, natural-looking improvement.
• Results may last up to two years. Individual results vary.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Sculptra works gradually rather than providing an immediate final result. Early fullness from the injected fluid is temporary.
Improvements develop over the following weeks and months. A series of treatments is commonly needed.
TREATMENT SCHEDULE
The manufacturer describes a typical treatment series of three sessions over approximately three to four months. Your number of sessions, treatment intervals, and vials per session are personalized.
Maintenance is determined after reassessment of your results.
PRICING
$850 per vial
The number of vials needed depends on your anatomy, treatment areas, and goals. Your total treatment cost will be discussed during your consultation.
PRECAUTIONS
Sculptra should not be used if you are allergic to its ingredients or have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring.
Safety has not been established during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in people under 18.
Postpone treatment if the area has an active infection, rash, sores, or inflammation.
Tell your provider about medical conditions, immune-system disorders, previous fillers, allergies, and all medications and supplements. Blood thinners may increase bruising; do not stop prescribed medication without guidance from your prescribing clinician.
Sculptra should not be injected into the lips or around the eyes. It cannot be readily dissolved with hyaluronidase.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Swelling, tenderness, redness, bruising, bleeding, itching, and injection-site pain may occur.
Small bumps or larger nodules can develop, sometimes months after treatment, and may require medical treatment. Infection and delayed inflammation are possible.
Rare but serious complications from injection into a blood vessel can include tissue injury, blindness, or stroke.
Contact your provider immediately for unusual pain or pale, dusky, or mottled skin. Call 911 for vision changes or stroke symptoms.
AFTERCARE
Follow your provider’s individualized instructions for massage, skin care, and activity after treatment. Report persistent swelling, redness, pain, or new lumps.
