Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are all injectable “Neuro-Toxins or Neuromodulators”. Any of these three can be used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and treat medical conditions by temporary relaxing the muscles.
Botox
$14/Unit
Botox is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles, in between eyebrows, crows feet and forehead to provide a more youthful appearance.
In some patients, Botox injections can be used to help prevent migraine headaches.
Botox is also approved for the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis, excessive arm pit sweating.
Dysport
$14/Unit
Dysport also contains botulinum toxin type A, but Dysport has a smaller molecules, leading to a different potency per unit. Dysport typically requires 2 to 3 units to match 1 unit of Botox’s effect.
It has a higher diffusion rate, meaning it spreads more easily from the injection site. This allows to cover larger areas with fewer injections.
Xeomin
$12/Unit
Xeomin is a “naked” neurotoxin, free of complexing proteins, while Botox includes these proteins. This may reduce the risk of antibody formation with Xeomin, potentially benefiting patients who develop resistance to Botox overtime.
